Line Of Duty Cast Sends Fans Into Frenzy as They Gather for First Readthrough of Series 7 – And Filming Is About to Begin!

The cast of Line Of Duty left fans buzzing on Monday as they gathered for the first readthrough of the highly anticipated seventh series, and it’s officially confirmed—filming is about to begin!

AC-12’s legendary trio, Martin Compston (41), Vicky McClure (42), and Adrian Dunbar (67), posed for a photo alongside guest star Robert Carlyle (64), who will join the cast as Detective Constable Shaun Massie. The BBC shared a behind-the-scenes snap of the iconic four, with the caption: “Now we’re sucking diesel! It’s back to work for this lot at the #LineOfDuty Series 7 read-through.”

Fans were over the moon with the announcement, commenting with excitement: “Mother of God!” and “Can’t wait for the new series!” One fan even joked: “One of you had better be H, otherwise it’s pointless!!”

Newcomer Robert Carlyle will follow in the footsteps of previous guest stars like Kelly Macdonald, Stephen Graham, Thandiwe Newton, Daniel Mays, Keeley Hawes, and Lennie James, adding another layer of intrigue to the already intense show.
In Line Of Duty’s upcoming season, the familiar faces of AC-12 are back, but with a twist. The unit has been disbanded and rebranded as the Inspectorate of Police Standards, leaving Steve Arnott (Martin Compston), Kate Fleming (Vicky McClure), and Ted Hastings (Adrian Dunbar) to tackle their most sensitive and dangerous case yet.
A teaser for the new series reveals: “Detective Constable Shaun Massie is a Specialist Rifle Officer (SRO), a veteran marksman, operating with Tactical Operations Unit 7 (TO-7) to take down Organised Crime Groups. When his boss, TO-7’s commanding officer DI Dominic Gough, is accused of being a sexual predator, Massie’s detached persona changes drastically. But is Gough’s case a deliberate distraction from an even bigger threat lurking in the shadows?”
The Hunt for ‘H’ Resumes
Series seven will also bring back the search for the elusive H, a storyline that had fans on the edge of their seats in the previous season. The controversial ending of series six, when Detective Supt. Ian Buckells (Nigel Boyle) was revealed as H, left many viewers dissatisfied. Now, the hunt for H will once again take centre stage alongside the investigation into the new character, Detective Inspector Dominic Gough.
A source close to the show shared: “There was genuine anger about how series six ended, which is partly why a seventh series was ordered. Fans will be thrilled to know that Jed Mercurio has decided to give them exactly what they wanted—the return of the H storyline!”
While a new villain will undoubtedly be introduced, insiders promise that this character’s storyline will intertwine with the H plot in a sensational twist.
A Sensational Comeback
Since its debut in 2012, Line Of Duty has become a cultural phenomenon, consistently drawing in more than 10 million viewers per episode. With series seven promising a thrilling continuation of the corruption-filled investigations and long-awaited answers, fans can hardly wait for the action to begin.
