Olly Murs announces a one-year break from performing to focus on his role as a “father and husband” after welcoming baby son Albert. He wants to trade sold-out stages for sleepless nights, fatherhood duties, and precious time with Amelia, Madison, and their newborn son
Olly Murs has revealed he is taking a full year away from touring and performing as he shifts his focus toward family life, saying he wants to be a “present father and husband” after welcoming baby son Albert.
The singer, 41, and his wife Amelia Tank, 34, welcomed Albert in September 2025, adding to their growing family after already becoming parents to daughter Madison. Now, Olly says the arrival of his children has completely changed the way he sees life and work.

Reflecting on the major decision, Olly admitted that becoming a father had put everything into perspective. He explained: “When you become a dad yourself, it really puts things into perspective. It’s a lovely year of me working on side projects and on smaller things, not worrying about music or touring.”
Rather than throwing himself straight back into the demands of his career, the Troublemaker hitmaker said this next chapter is about being at home and fully present for the people who matter most. He said: “This year is just (about) being a present father, present husband, and being there for my wife and kids, just enjoying a break.”
Even as he spoke warmly about the change, Olly also joked about the chaos that comes with life at home with two young children. Laughing, he said: “So it’s looking like restless nights. It’s being shouted at every day by Madi, ‘I want more food!’”

His candid comments come after he previously opened up about how difficult it had been to spend time away from his newborn son while handling work commitments and promotional duties. During an appearance on Heart Breakfast in December, Olly revealed he had promised Amelia he would slow down and be more available in 2026.
He admitted the previous few weeks had been especially demanding as he balanced the release of his album Knees Up, ongoing promotional work and seasonal projects. Speaking honestly, he said: “The last few weeks I’ve said to Amelia, ‘It’s been really tough.’”
He went on to explain just how packed his schedule had become, saying: “Because my album came out last week so I’ve been promoting that, then obviously this, and now I’ve got a Christmas song coming.”

But despite the pressure, Olly made it clear that family would come first going forward. In a sweet moment, he recalled telling his wife: “I did say to her ‘I promise you darling it is going to be a bit more quieter next year and I’m going to be around a lot more and then you’re gonna hate me even more.’”
The new dad has also made no secret of how proud he is of Amelia. After Albert’s birth, she shared an empowering post celebrating her postpartum body, proudly holding her newborn son while reflecting on everything her body had done. Amelia said she was “forever grateful” and “proud of this version” of herself.
Olly was quick to show his admiration in the comments, writing: “Two beautiful kids, one unbelievable, incredible wife x I’m a lucky lucky man xx.”
For Olly, it seems the next year will not be about chart battles or sold-out arenas, but about quieter moments at home — and embracing every part of fatherhood, from the joy to the sleepless nights.
